Summer Scheme: With Local Key Stage 2 Kids

“Can I come back next yere?”, “I really loved it and wish it was on longer”

Courthouse Summer Scheme Full of Creativity and Adventure

We were delighted to welcome pupils from Cross and Passion College and Ballycastle High School to the Courthouse for a special Tailoring Masterclass led by textile artist Helen Perry.

Across two creative sessions, students had the opportunity to meet some of our resident makers while learning the basics of tailoring and sewing machine skills. Using old jeans, the pupils designed and created their own denim bags, giving new life to recycled materials through sustainable fashion.

The first session focused on learning how to safely use sewing machines, practicing techniques, and planning their bag designs. During the second session, the pupils put their new skills into action to complete their finished pieces.

The masterclass was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved, and the students were proud to leave with both new tailoring skills and their own handmade denim bags.
