North Antrim Textile Art
Contemporary textile art inspired by the North Antrim Coast.
Inspired by the North Antrim Coast
Eibhlín grew up in a seaside town along the North Antrim Coast, where the dramatic scenery of the Antrim Coast & Glens became a lasting source of inspiration.
Through her work, she interprets familiar landscapes in a unique way, translating their colours, shapes and atmosphere into expressive abstract textile creations.
Using a range of creative textile techniques, including dyeing, printmaking, wet felting, hand embroidery and machine embroidery, Eibhlín builds layers of colour and texture into every piece.
Her work explores the relationship between landscape and textile, creating contemporary artworks that are both visually striking and deeply connected to place.
The Open Frame Collection
A distinctive aspect of Eibhlín's practice is her use of found objects gathered from the coastline. Inspired by the natural forms and textures of the shore, she developed the Open Frame Collection, a unique series of felted artworks incorporating broken seashells.
By removing the barrier of glass, these pieces invite viewers to engage with textiles through a sense of touch, highlighting their calming and restorative qualities.
The contrast between the sharp textures of the shells and the softness of merino wool felt creates a tactile experience that reflects the beauty and character of the North Coast landscape.www.fanadart.com
