My practice is playful, curious and experimental. I don’t conform to one particular style of painting. Instead, I paint what I feel either inspired to, or compelled to, depending on the day. Bright, saturated colours feature heavily, often juxtaposed with deep, sultry tones.
I paint the poetry of the soul - raw things and deep things and frivolous things, wild, chaotic things and tame, harmonious things. I paint fast, and slow, big, and small. I resist any notion of being predictable or contained.
Meet the Artist Behind the Canvas
I’m a self-taught painter in my mid-fifties. I picked up a paintbrush for the first time three years ago and quickly found myself in the throes of a deep love affair with painting.
I generally paint spontaneously and sometimes feverishly, creating a sense of drama and movement with strong colours, gestures and heavy-handed smearing of paint. Occasionally, as my soul and mood dictate, I paint more mindfully, dancing with the canvas in a gentle back-and-forth of curiosity-laden ‘what if?’
My paintings generally appeal to the dreamers, the deep thinkers, and the darers, and they hang in homes all over the world.
