Through the Madman's Window - A Story Making Workshop with Colin Urwin
Join us on Monday 22nd September from 7pm – 9pm for an unforgettable creative journey into the art of storytelling.
Ever wanted to turn an old family anecdote or personal experience into something truly magical?
Step Through the Madman’s Window with master storyteller Colin Urwin and learn how to weave together something borrowed (a fragment of folk or family lore), something blue (a distant memory or emotion), and a silver sixpence (an emotive object or place) into a tale that is not only imaginative and fresh—but made to be told aloud.
Over four weekly workshops, Colin will guide you through a joyful, hands-on creative process that transforms memory into myth and everyday moments into timeless stories. You'll stretch your imaginative muscles and craft your very own wonder tale, culminating in a live performance on Thursday 16th October 2025 at The Courthouse, Bushmills.

Watercolour Landscape Workshop with Artist Sarah Carrington
Join us on Saturday 13th September from 2pm - 4pm for a Watercolour Landscape Workshop with Sarah Carrington.
Spend a relaxed and creative afternoon immersed in the stunning scenery of the Causeway Coast, guided by local landscape artist Sarah Carrington.
In this hands-on workshop, Sarah will introduce you to a range of watercolour techniques through live painting demonstrations and gentle, encouraging instruction. You’ll create a series of your own landscape-inspired watercolours, drawing inspiration from the coastline just beyond the door.
Whether you're picking up a brush for the first time or returning to a forgotten hobby, no painting experience is needed—and all materials will be provided.
The session will take place in the atmospheric, rustic garage of the Courthouse in Bushmills, beside the River Bush. Refreshments will be served, courtesy of the Bistro at the Courthouse.
Please wear clothing you don’t mind getting paint on.
About the Artist:
Born in Scotland and now based on the Causeway Coast, Sarah Carrington has worked as a professional artist since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 1999. Her practice is rooted in landscape painting and drawing, with a deep connection to place. Alongside exhibiting across the UK, Sarah regularly shares her passion through workshops in schools, community settings and creative events.

Discover the fascinating story of this landmark 1830s building, once derelict for over 50 years and now beautifully restored as a vibrant Creative Hub. With its distinctive Victorian flourishes in a Georgian streetscape, The Courthouse has reclaimed its place at the heart of the village.
Led by architect Dr. Andrew Molloy, the tour will reveal the challenges and craftsmanship involved in conserving a Listed Building within a Conservation Area, and the vision behind its sensitive modern extension.
Along the way, meet the Creators in Residence, who will share how the restored space is inspiring their work today.

Sourdough Cookery Class with Bistro at The Courthouse
Join Sean and Trudy Brolly for a hands-on Sourdough Cookery Class at Bistro at The Courthouse on Wednesday 27th August from 5pm - 7.30pm and discover the art of creating delicious homemade sourdough bread. In this 2.5-hour class, you’ll learn how to nurture your own sourdough starter and bake a beautiful loaf from scratch.
At the end of the class, you’ll take home your own starter, a wicker proving basket, your freshly crafted loaf to bake, and a detailed recipe to continue your sourdough journey at home. You’ll also enjoy a Welcome Breadboard with our in-house baked sourdough and local dips, plus a glass of Cava to make the experience even more special.

Ever wanted to turn a family story or personal memory into something magical?
Join master storyteller Colin Urwin for a unique, 4-week creative storytelling journey. Through playful exercises and imaginative prompts, you’ll learn how to craft a personalised wonder tale—blending memory, emotion, and folklore into a story that’s fresh, powerful, and ready to share.
The process will culminate in a live performance night at The Courthouse on Thursday 16th October, where participants will have the chance to present their tale in front of an audience.
